Contact [email protected] for coaching on specific writing projects. We will work with reasonable timelines and unreasonable bursts of creativity. Focused in the form your project takes, whether in a short story or long novel, these creative bursts can get you to the finish line.
Coaching tip of the week:
This may seem obvious, but take it as a gentle reminder. Examine your work habits. Write down answers to the following:
- Do you cram writing into a full day spent at a day job or caring for family?
- Are you a part time or retired worker or looking for paid work? Are you someone who can write in short chunks, or do you need a solid, uninterrupted block? Is writing a luxury or necessity for you?
- Envision what works. Once a week, write down in a datebook or calendar about how many hours you have that week free for writing. Where can you re-prioritize or cut back on other activities? Get savvy about tasks you can downsize (shopping, cooking, TV, texting friends, polishing the silverware).
- Learn to chunk, writing or thinking about your writing on a subway or walk.
Always carry a pen and pad with you. Ideas come in odd places. I get them sitting through endless coming attractions in movie theaters and on check out lines. How about you?
